DGUV Regulation 3 “Electrical installations and equipment”
Also: DGUV Vorschrift 3, DGUV V3, BGV A3, E-Check
Definition
DGUV Regulation 3 requires companies to have electrical installations and equipment tested by qualified electricians – before first use, after modifications and at regular intervals. Guideline for portable devices: every 6 months, in offices up to 2 years.
Until 2014 the regulation was called BGV A3; for public-sector accident insurance funds, the identical DGUV Regulation 4 applies. Tests cover portable equipment such as extension cables, drills or coffee machines (guideline 6 months, 3 months on construction sites; can be extended if the failure rate is below 2 per cent) and fixed installations such as the building wiring (4 years, 1 year in rooms of a special kind).
Tests may be carried out by a qualified electrician (Elektrofachkraft) or an electrically instructed person under their direction and supervision, with suitable test equipment according to DIN EN 50699. The result is recorded in a report; the test sticker alone is not proof.
