Qualified electrician (Elektrofachkraft)
Also: Elektrofachkraft, EFK, electrically instructed person, EuP
Definition
A qualified electrician is someone who, based on technical training, knowledge and experience as well as knowledge of the relevant regulations, can assess the electrical work assigned and recognise possible hazards. Only a qualified electrician may take responsibility for tests under DGUV Regulation 3.
The definition is in Section 2 (3) of DGUV Regulation 3 and DIN VDE 1000-10. Typical examples are electronics technicians, electricians, electrical technicians and engineers with professional experience. A distinction is made with the electrically instructed person (EuP), who may carry out certain clearly defined tasks – such as testing portable equipment with a test device – under the direction and supervision of a qualified electrician.
For defined activities, there is the qualified electrician for defined activities (EFKffT), for example in the trades for connecting certain devices.
