Inspection sticker (Prüfplakette)
Also: Prüfplakette, test sticker, inspection tag
Definition
The inspection sticker is the label on the work equipment that shows the passed inspection and the next inspection date. It is a hint for users but not proof – the proof is the inspection report with result, inspector and date.
Stickers are not mandatory but practical: you can see at a glance whether a device has been inspected and is still within its cycle. Stickers showing the year and month of the next inspection are common, often in different colours for each year. Devices that fail are marked with a lock-out sticker and withdrawn from use.
Towards the employers' liability insurance association, the authorities or after an accident, only the record under Section 17 of the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health counts – stickers without a report have no evidential value.
