Occupational safety software (EHS software)
Also: EHS software, HSE software, safety management software, Arbeitsschutzsoftware, Arbeitssicherheitssoftware
Definition
Occupational safety software – also called EHS software (environment, health, safety) – brings the duties of occupational safety together in one system: risk assessments, operating instructions, safety instruction, inspection intervals, inspections, hazardous substances, measures and records, usually as a web application with a mobile app.
The benefit lies less in individual features than in how they work together: an inspection produces a measure with a deadline, a safety data sheet produces an entry in the hazardous substances register and operating instructions, the risk assessment produces the need for safety instruction. Reminders prevent missed deadlines, and the history provides records for audits and authorities. Modern systems use AI to read safety data sheets or suggest hazards.
Software is not required by law – the German Occupational Safety and Health Act requires a suitable organisation (Section 3 (2)). For companies with many deadlines, several sites or changing responsibilities, however, it solves the typical weaknesses of Excel lists and folders.
Risk assessments in AMS GoRisk assessments are the backbone of occupational safety. With AMS Go you record hazard factors in a structured way, use templates and AI suggestions, document the current state including photos and link everything seamlessly to your action plan.Learn more
